Carnival Glory 2008 KFD Cruise Club Day 9
Day 9 had us wake up just off the Florida coast. The night before we had packed our suitcases and placed them in the hall outside our cabin. Carnival implemented a new procedure since out last cruise for luggage. We were given tags that had a number on then, we were number 17. When they started calling for guests to disembark the self assist guests were called first. Self assist guests are those who are taking there own luggage. I personally think they should do away with self assist guests, it seemed to really bog down the process. Next they called guests to disembark by luggage numbers they gave out, seeming to start on the upper decks. Once the self assist guests cleared the ship it seemed to really flow smoothly. We actually waited in our cabins for our numbers rather than trying to get to the theatre. I don’t think our stewards were too happy with our decision to stay in the cabins but we consolidated down to one cabin before we were called to leave. Once off the ship we were surprised to find luggage carousels instead of the warehouse full of bag as with other ports. I have to give Port Canaveral thumbs up for their facility and service. It was the best I have experienced in the US. We did have some issues 7 days earlier when we left, but it was the port workers who needed a few lessons in baggage handling not the facility.
We proceeded out of the port building to the parking lot and looked for the shuttle from the Radisson. The Radisson in Port Canaveral offers a free shuttle service to and from the port. They also offered free parking for guests who had stayed at the hotel. I will highly recommend the Radisson at the Port for future guests. They took great care of us, not only did they offer a free shuttle to and from the port but they took guests on the shuttle to other places in the area.
Back at the Radisson we just chilled out the rest of the day, we ate lunch at Zachary’s which is next door to the hotel. Zachary’s offered a nice menu that included some fantastic Greek dishes. I had the gyros and sampled someone else’s kabob. I will definitly eat there again if the occasion arises. We had dinner that night at the Italian restaurant on the other side of the hotel, the food was good there as well. We ended up sitting outside on the balcony that evening having a few drinks of the duty free liquor we bought on board the ship. We didn’t take any photos on day 9 but following are a few from earlier days on the cruise. Days when we had a few crazy’s among us!
